SOFIA was prominent at the AAS meeting in Austin. Professor Eric Becklin (USRA/UCLA) led an oral session to update the astronomical community on the progress and plans for the project. Four talks were presented by the team:

  • "Observatory Development and Science Highlights" by J. Davidson (USRA)
  • "Facility and PI Class Instruments" by S. Casey (USRA)
  • "Facility Instrument Operations and Reductions" by I. Gatley 9RIT)
  • "Observatory Policies, Grants and Proposals" by E. Becklin

More than 100 stronomers attended and participated in the session.
