SOFIA Telescope Assembly Update

The SOFIA telescope assembly continues to make great progress. Recently, the telescope's suspension system assembly was completed in Germany. The suspension system is an important part of the SOFIA telescope; it connects the telescope mirror on one end to the science instruments on the other end and it supports the telescope while isolating it from the aircraft vibration. Click on the images below to learn about the assembly process.
