German Minister Frankenberg visits SOFIA in California

On June 1st 2007 Professor Peter Frankenberg, the Minister for Science, Research and Art of the state of Baden-Württemberg, visited SOFIA at NASA Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) jointly with Prof. Wolfram Ressel, rector of the Universität Stuttgart and Prof. Georg Fundel, director of the Stuttgart Airport, as well as colleagues from DSI and DLR. The Universität Stuttgart -- where the German SOFIA Institute (DSI) is located -- is a partner in the SOFIA project as well as the Airport Stuttgart, which is the base airport for SOFIA's visits to Germany.

Minister Frankenberg took the opportunity to learn first-hand that the SOFIA project is in a great shape. Moreover he pointed out that SOFIA is one of the showcases of a successful German-US partnership and expressed his hope that SOFIA will come to visit Germany as soon as possible. Prof. Wolfram Ressel and Prof. Georg Fundel also visited the DSI branch at NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) one day earlier, on May 31st .
