NASA Ames Research Center Visitor Badge Information

The following are procedures to obtain a temporary visitor badge at NASA Ames Research Center while visiting the USRA-SOFIA Project. The procedures apply to anyone wishing to spend any time at NASA Ames, on the USRA-SOFIA Project, for less than three months.

US CITIZEN
Contact Julie Reynolds-Grabbe by phone or fax at least five working days prior to your visit. You will need to provide the following information:

Full Name
Affiliation
Dates of Visit
Citizenship
Purpose of Visit

Pick up the badge at the Visitor Badge Office, by the main entrance to Ames, Bldg. 26. The Visitor Badge Office will photograph you and issue you a temporary visitor badge.



PERMANENT RESIDENT
Fax a completed form titled Permanent Resident IV form to Julie Reynolds-Grabbe at least thirty (30) working days before your visit. You must submit this form each time you visit Ames. You must bring your original green card with you to gain access to Ames.

Pick up the badge at the Visitor Badge Office, by the main entrance to Ames, Bldg. 26. The Visitor Badge Office will photograph you and issue you a temporary visitor badge.


FOREIGN NATIONALS
Fax a completed form titled Foreign National IV form to Julie Reynolds-Grabbe at least thirty (30) working days prior to your visit. You must submit this form each time you visit Ames. You must bring your original passport and visa with you.

Unless you are on the Accreditation list, foreign nationals must be escorted at all times by a permanently badged US Citizen, or Permanent Resident. At no time are Foreign Nationals to be unescorted, or are they to be escorted by a Foreign National or a temporarily badged visitor. You must bring your original passport and visa with you.

FOREIGN NATIONALS FROM DESIGNATED COUNTRIES
Fax a completed form titled Foreign National IV form to Julie Reynolds-Grabbe at least ninety (90) working days prior to your visit. This form will need to be completed each time you visit Ames. You will need to be escorted during your visit, unless you are on the Accreditation List.

Sufficient lead-time is especially important if you come from a “designated country.” The list of restricted countries changes but currently includes Libya, India, Pakistan, North Korea, China, Taiwan, for example; Eastern Europe and Russia are not currently on the list. Allow three to six months for processing, as NASA Headquarters must approve these visits.

Foreign nationals must be escorted at all times by a permanently badged US Citizen, or Permanent Resident. At no time are Foreign Nationals to be unescorted, or are they to be escorted by a Foreign National or a temporarily badged visitor. You must bring your original passport and visa with you.
