SOFIA community: Our Outreach team welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with you to promote your SOFIA science results. SOFIA science spotlights are featured in our e-newsletter, on this website, and possibly in a NASA press release. Please keep the Outreach team informed about the status of your publication, so we can assess opportunities. Please contact the Outreach team before or at the moment of paper submission (the earlier, the better). Communicating with the SOFIA Outreach team is considered internal communications and does not violate the embargo policies of scientific journals. Need more information? See our FAQs.
Notify the SOFIA Science Center via sofia_help@sofia.usra.edu of any accepted refereed paper or PhD thesis publishing SOFIA data. Your publication will then be listed on our SOFIA Publications page or the PhD Theses page.
Acknowledgements
Authors who utilize SOFIA data should provide the following acknowledgement in their publications,
"Based [in part] on observations made with the NASA/DLR Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA). SOFIA is jointly operated by the Universities Space Research Association, Inc. (USRA), under NASA contract NNA17BF53C, and the Deutsches SOFIA Institut (DSI) under DLR contract 50 OK 2002 to the University of Stuttgart. [Financial support for this work was provided by NASA {through award #____ issued by USRA.]"
If the work was supported by funds awarded by USRA through the SOFIA observing program, then include the award number as shown in the square brackets. Awards to NASA civil servants are not distributed through USRA. In this case, remove the text in curly brackets. If there was no financial support issued through the SOFIA observing program, then the text in square brackets may be omitted.
Authors utilizing SOFIA/GREAT observations are reminded that the Calls for Proposals state that "For GO publications resulting directly from accepted SOFIA proposals that involve GREAT observations, the GREAT PI may designate up to three co-authors."
